Kim Varhola comes to the stage tonight after taking a brief hiatus from performing in order to pursue other career ventures. After being awarded a Masters in Cinema Studies from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts last spring, Kim has continued on the academic track and is currently pursuing an MA in Arts Administration at Columbia University. Her last appearance on the Broadway stage was in the 2005 revival of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Pacific Overtures. Other Broadway credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie (Gloria), RENT (Alexi Darling), Anything Goes, and Flower Drum Song; Kim remains the only actor to appear in every production of Flower Drum Song, from concept workshops to the Broadway revival to the national tour. Regional credits: Flower Drum Song (Mark Taper Forum and Houston's Theater Under the Stars); No No Nanette (Goodspeed); Redhead (Goodspeed); Sweet Charity (Wagonwheel Theater). Kim has also made numerous singing appearances benefiting Lincoln Center Theater, The American Theatre Wing, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Young Playwrights Inc., and the Castle Performing Arts Center in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Kim holds a BS in Theatre from Northwestern University. Much love to Mom, Dad, Andrew, and of course, Michael.
