REACH! is the brainchild of Jason Reed. He is the son of the Rev. Walter R. and Helen L. Reed and the grandson of Walter A. and Marion L. Reed. The entire Reed family is originally from Carlisle. Jason began taking his first dance class at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet when he was 18. By the time he was 21 he was attending his first year at The Juilliard School, enrolling in a four year program, where he graduated in 2000 receiving his Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. Since graduating Jason has taken on many more skills then just dancing. He currently produces, directs, choreographs, teaches, and performs with different companies, various shows, schools and ensembles.
Jason has performed in works by choreographers such as Hans Van Manen, Lila York and George Balanchine. He received training from nationally and internationally acclaimed teachers such as, Andra Corvino, Benjamine Harkarvy, Stephen Pier, Paul Sutherland, Marcia Dale Weary, Alexandra Wells, Hector Zaraspe in Ballet; Carolyn Adams, Sue Bernhard, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Christine Dakin, Laura Glenn, Linda Kent, Jeanne Ruddy in Modern; And from Ballroom Champions Pierre Dulaine & Yvonne Marceau.
Jason has worked and choreographed under the Artistic Direction of Marcia Dale Weary at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, the late International Ballet Star Rebecca Wright and at Ballet Tech with Eliot Feld and in conjunction with The New York City Public School for Dance and The NYC Department of Education.
Jason's choreography has been seen from local theaters such as The Carlisle Theater in Carlisle, PA to international stages such as Alice Tully Hall, The Juilliard School and in places such as Tucuman Argentina. Jason's career over the last 16 years range from working and cooking at Little John's Family Restaurant for 10 years, doing sales at various corporate companies, working at the Metropolitan Opera House in the Costume Shop, Principal Artist, Chorus, Extras & Kids Departments to doing castings, TV shows, videos, kids programming, dancing & choreography at Kamen Entertainment Group in NYC.
Jason has also been dancing, choreographing and working with Nationally Acclaimed Fitness Entertainer & Motivator MARINA for 6 years. MARINA is a mother of 3 who has lost 100 lb and who has made her unique mark on the Fitness industry that has yet to be matched.
REACH! is a new program offered by Carlisle Victory Circle founded by Jason Reed. Jason has a dream to return to the Carlisle area (while still being based and living in NYC) and provide positivepathways for young people to build character and academic success. Please keep a look out for REACH! events through out the greater Cumberland County community. REACH! will have on going activities, functions and gatherings that will definitely provide wonderful opportunities for the youth and create a solid program the entire community can get behind and benefit from.
